Bogbean nodded her agreement with Bricky telling them they should leave as soon as possible but paused in confusion.
“okay, do I make da raft here? or do we wait? where do we go?”
Her voice trailed off in bewilderment. Bricky pondered the situation for a moment before his attention is caught by something in Miguel’s box. He rummaged through it and came out with a strange lute with a box attached to the side. When he strummed the lute, the box seemed to amplify the sound.
“Mien apologies Miguel, but I will be taking that for now.”
A fresh stream of tears begins rolling down his cheeks just as he was starting to calm down. This was, quite possibly, the worst day of Miguel’s life. His arms raised for a second in a feeble gesture of need for his lute before dropping back at his sides in defeat.
Bricky returns to looking for an exit and realizes very quickly that the only point of egress was the hatch above them that had opened not that long ago. He looked at Bogbean,

“Well…do you want me to pick you up und we can go through the hatch?”
“yea. do u want me to peak at wats out dere or are we just bustin out?
“Ja, here you go.”
Bricky picks up Bogbean. Dropping Miguel to do so. He sits where he dropped and weeps, then pauses, “You’re gonna take me with you right?”
Bricky just stares at Miguel for a second before turning back to picking up Bogbean. He wobbles a bit as he lifts her up in the air to get close to the hatch.
Above deck….
Captain V looked out over his vessel with pride. The salty sea air surrounding them was his favorite scent in the whole world. The captain was a bright, blue scaled lizard with mottling of yellow and green spread throughout. He wore a dashing cerulean coat with golden buttons and scarlet trousers that completed the look. His boat, which he had dubbed The Hellish Insanity, was a small vessel but the name spoke volumes of what he and his crew had been through. He took his time looking over the spotless deck his crew maintained, making sure everything was in order. A magenta Scalekin, Sarsoon, with the tail of a snake was mopping the deck, a crimson formerly winged Scalekin, Golkir, sat at the helm manning the wheel.
Sitting in one of the corners of the ship was the singular passenger they had reluctantly taken aboard at the last dock. She didn’t really give them a choice to say no. They had not yet seen her face as she kept to herself and didn’t cause issues. As long as she kept it that way she could keep her face hidden all she wanted. Their one month journey was almost at an end and he was looking forward to the gold he was going to make on this run. Captain V watched the horizon as Sarsoon slithered up to him,

“Captain, it issssss almost time! When are we gonna get them?! I need it, I need to get them bad!”
“All in due time, Sarsoon. Have you checked on the cargo? I thought I heard something from below earlier.”
“Ah yesssss Captain, I will get right on that!”
Sarsoon made his way over to the hatch that had an open grating in the center for sight into the cargo from above. He peered into the murky darkness of the hold and listened for any movement.
“Do you hear anything now?”
“I’m not sssssssure Captain. What did it sound like earlier?”
“It sounded like a child screaming.”
“Well I don’t hear anything now. I will check below once I’ve finished cleaning the deck. I am almossssst done.”
Sarsoon slithered off to pick his mop back up. Captain V looked on at his friend who had lost his family in a brutal attack in silent regard. He said nothing as Sarsoon continued to mop the deck. Instead he went up to the grating on the hatch and looked down himself, trying to penetrate the darkness below with his sharp vision. All the crates seemed to be in their position. No sound either. He thought he must be getting sea crazy. The hooded lady observed his strange movements with wary curiosity.
Captain V gets a chill down his spine as he meets eyes with the lady on deck for the first time and is almost paralyzed by her penetrating gaze. Neither blinks for a few moments and both begin to wonder who will break first. After a few more moments Captain V blinks, breaking the strange moment and ask,
“You never mentioned where you were headed. Do you have a particular place in mind?”

The silence holds for a bit longer before she responds in a crisp, intelligent tone,
“I have paid for passage and made no outburst that would require interrogation. I would prefer to keep my reasons and destination to myself. For now, you are going in the direction I need. That is all you need to know. I was told that I could pay passage and not be asked any question. That this was a discreet vessel.”
“Well, you’re right of course. I was just curious is all. With the staring, it was a bit off putting.”
The lady picked up the cat that had accompanied her aboard and placed it on her lap.
“I do hope you don’t plan on breaking our contract.”
“We do honor out deals here. No worry there.”
With that confirmation she falls silent once more and focuses on the book she was reading. Captain V goes over to Golkir’s side with a slight shiver of cold still lingering. To dispel the tension he feels, he begins to converse with his First Mate before relieving him of duty at the wheel. Before leaving, the Captain asks Golkir to remind Sarsoon of his task of checking the hold soon. Golkir promptly yells out to Sarsoon immediately to relay the message and heads to their quarters for a well earned rest.
Sarsoon begins to head over to the hatch. Only the hooded woman notices at the last second the green fingers curling on the grating before an explosion of activity begins. The grating goes flying and a tall man rises out of the hold below holding a small green creature aloft in his hand. The small green creature blinks to adjust to the sunlight of the outside and notices that they are in plain sight of everyone on the boat.
“uh, i think everyun can see us….”
