Bricky’s stench was atrocious. Now that they had eaten and the excitement of battle was over, the smell was unbearable. Luna wanted to do something to alleviate the odor, so she tried and failed to hide her casting a small spell that would send pleasant scents of various plants she had used and cared for. It wafted across the deck and, although the smell was nice, it did not quite eliminate the stench of Bricky. Still everyone was grateful she had tried to help.

Everyone seemed unfazed by the magic except Captain V, who shuddered at the casting and gave the woman a warning look,
“We need to be careful with doing that while in the middle of the ocean.”
The woman only put up her hands and nodded in assent. She would not cast aboard the ship unless absolutely necessary.
Everyone settled into a comfortable position for the long night and Bricky spoke first. He had tried the food, didn’t like it, and handed it to Bogbean after she was done with her own meal. She scarfed it down as soon as it was in her hands. The hooded woman told her to slow down as Bricky also exclaimed in worry that she might choke. Bogbean had no such issues and was soon done with the second meal as well. Bricky turned to the hooded woman to thank her for trying and asked her name,
“Und you lady, what is you name?”
The hooded woman looked at him from under her hood and stared in silence. It lasted for a few moments before Bogbean spoke up,
“Well, my name’s Bogbean!”

The woman seemed to come to life and answered back without hesitation,
“Oh well my name is Luna! That’s amazing, your name is brilliant!”
She was fascinated by Bogbean. All her attention now seemed fixation on the little green lady in front of her. Bricky frowned feeling hurt by the rebuff from Luna. She also seemed a bit intent on the captain as well, but not as much as she was on Bogbean.
“What are you?” she said with wonder in her voice?
It was Bricky who answered, not Bogbean. She did not know what she was, as she was the only one of her kind she had ever seen.
“She is a Wichtel.”
“Oh! I’ve never seen anything like that before!” exclaimed Luna, “I feel like I know you…”
She leaned in a bit to put her hand on Bogbean’s forehead but Bricky intervened before she could even ask permission.
“You look like some of the small folk on the Hume continent, but you’re green! That’s quite strange!”
Bogbean stayed silent for a bit processing that bit of information.
Luna turned to Bricky and asked,
“While we’re on the subject of life where it has no apparent reason to be, you’re dead.”

“We’ll I’ve been stuck in a box for some time, ja.”
“That doesn’t cause that smell. I’ve been around a lot of dead bodies and you smell like death.”
Bricky gives Luna a blank stare and replies with a bland, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”
Luna gave him a look with a slightly raised left eyebrow and let it go for the moment, but not before she jotted something down in her notebook. As she put it away, something zipped by her. Or so she thought. Whatever it was had gone by so fast she couldn’t be certain that anything did pass.
In the shadows close by, Drexla caught her breath. She had succeeded in obtaining some of the food scraps left over from the large people’s meals and zipped away with it as fast as she could. Her head ached, her throat was parched and her stomach was roiling with hunger and a bit of nausea too.
Back in her small, makeshift abode she devoured what she had been able to scrounge up and fell halfway into her bed, which was just a pile of straw in the corner. She was asleep before she even hit the hay.
On deck, the sun was just starting to tint the horizon with light as they saw the approaching land and the dock that they were headed to. Everyone prepared themselves for what lay ahead in this new land they would find themselves in.
