While they waited Luna saw that they were desperately hungry so she did the only thing she could think of and made it rain edible flowers. It was a small trick she could do but it was something.
“Here you are in the mean time while you wait for your meal. I know it’s not much but it’s all I can do.”

“We won’t be eating grass after this will we?” asked Kibana.
“No, no,” laughed Luna.
Luna watched as Kibana reluctantly took some and popped them in her mouth with a grimace. She noticed that Hamptony only ate some after Kibana curled her mouth in disgust but not alarm over poison. She spat out the flowers with a sour look on her face. The moment was a bit awkward as they all waited for the food. Drexla took the opportunity to slide up to the Dimmin man, Grindlethorpe. They sat in stiff silence for a moment as Grindlethorpe pretended not to notice her nearby. Drexla grew tired of waiting after a while and asked,
“So what does it take to become a member?”
“A member of what?”
“Of C.O.G.”
“Well, there is an extensive,” as be began to describe the lengthy process of membership, Drexla pulled out her schematics for the folding ship she had in mind and placed them before him.
“What do you think of this?”
He looked at the parchment with a discerning eye and sighed,
“These are good for a beginners perhaps. It is a very good start.”
His condescending tone did not pass everyone’s notice. Their countenances only got darker as he continued.
“Well, I can see here there are already some miscalculations and errors. This could never actually handle the load you want it to with the materials you want to use!”
With the practice of many years, Grindlethorpe pulled out a quill and began to prepare to make corrections on the parchment.
“See here you forgot to carry the one over..”
“Ah, hey hey hey no no! There are no mistakes on there!”
Drexla snatched back her parchment and held it tight to her person as if afraid he might take it from her and make his so called corrections anyway.
“There are none.”
“There are always mistakes that need to be corrected.”
“There are no mistakes here. That is the schematic for a folding warship!”

“Ah..”
“I’m sorry you can’t understand it but that’s what it is.”
“Oh, oh, very well, um. Now on membership. There are many ways. You can be a legacy member. An apprentice to an existing member of C.O.G, or perhaps bring enough of an achievement to the Dimmin people that it garners honorary membership. However, I would say there is much work to be done before you would be allowed to enter their establishment but there many other smaller tinkerer’s groups that would perhaps allow you to assist them.”
“Well, I heard that C.O.G was the best..”
“Oh very much so!”
“..but if you aren’t interested in an up and coming talent such as myself then..”
“Well, now, I didn’t say that. What could I even do for you?”
“You could sponsor me.”
“Oh well, now, I don’t even know you. I would have to get to know you and..”
“Okay, get to know me. Hi, I’m Drexla.”
“Grindlethorpe. But ah, what are you? You don’t scan of magic, but you have some unique traces of something to you. Some unique energies.”
“My parents were Dimmin.”
“Natural or Surgical?”
“Both?”
“Both?! So you came out in two parts?!”
“Huh?”
Luna saw they were struggling and helped Drexla a bit with the question.
“He’s asking if you were born naturally or through a surgical procedure through the belly. He believes you were born to Dimmin parents.”
“Oh, they raised me. I was found in a circle of mushrooms. That’s all I know.”
“Oh, interesting! How far back does your memory go. Do you remember your birth? Does your species know everything they need to from creation or do they learn as they grow? Apologies if I am too forward. We have never encountered a live specimen such as yourself to speak to.”
“I don’t know much. My father said I was a natural tinkerer. I don’t know much more than that.”
“Ah, well there were always rumors that fairies liked to collect things. Ususally, they were teeth, bones, hair, eyeballs even. Things of that nature. That’s what the records used to report of.”
“I have no interest in teeth or eyeballs, but are you offering one or something?”
Grindlethorpe noted the new bit of information in a small notebook at his breast pocket and stammered when Drexla finished her question.
“Ah ah, no no. I need both of my eyes haha! But em, if you ever stop by the port of Isegard perhaps you can get a start at one of the smaller tinkerer workshops.”
“And you’re people won’t persecute her for how she looks?” Interjected Luna.
“What was your name?” Drexla asked Grindlethorpe and Luna’s question went unanswered.
“Well my name will only get you so far but after performing another scan it clearly shows that you are something but you also have no magic whatsoever. So perhaps, they will be allowing of you. I cannot speak for the rest of my fellows but I would say watch out for his people.” Grindlethorpe gestured towards Hamptony, “Smash first ask questions later kind of folks.”

“I heard that!”
“For what it’s worth, they have their uses.”
“I suppose.”
Their conversation drifted off and Grindlethorpe became involved in focused writing notes in his journal. Drexla notices as he was deep in thought that he had a bag nearby that he did not let far out of his reach. She prepared her gauntlet and a small disk popped out so she could try to track the movements of her new connection. As her fingers touched the bag, a shock of lightning ran through her and an alarm began blaring from the bag.”
“Oh no, no! Stop that! It’s very dangerous! There are protections! No, no!”
“I was just curious what you had after I showed you my schematics.”
“Curiosity killed the Mir’Sha, now move along!”
Grindlethorpe pulled something out of his pocket and turned away from the group as he disarmed the alarm.
“Can you teach me how to do that?
“Well, it is a combination of magical stones and mechanical procedures, but I doubt the parts are readily available here. Yes, you would need to be back on the mainland.”
“If you had the schematics, I could build it later as I acquire parts.”
“Oh haha, you can pay for the schematics if you even want to look at them. My skills cost a pretty penny.”
“It would be quite an accomplishment if I could build something with just a look at your schematics.”
“Ah, I see, but I don’t know you. So, I will not be taking that risk. No, but perhaps you will come up with something fantastic on your own. We have met, you have my name, but that is about all I can offer at this moment. We are here for a short while and when we get back this will be nothing but a memory.”
An awkward silence continued for a bit until Tobias finished his preparations for the meal and placed the delicious food in front of the three strangers. They tucked in with groans of gratitude and satisfaction. The group looked like they were savoring every morsel. Not having eaten in days, they were making the most of all the flavor in this one dish.
