In the time between the next battle, the injured were healed and the others recovered from their bout. The next team got ready for the next battle. They saw that the first team had just barely scraped by. Luna sat there recovering from her falling in combat with an incredulous look on her face and a bit of a split lip.
“Congratulations, ja.” Bricky spoke up first.
“Yea, that was close.” Tobias remarked.
“Too close,” Luna replied with a gulp of relief, “but yes.”
“Vhat do you zhink Bogbean?”

Bogbean just nodded as she chewed on some herb she had foraged from the forest and looked ready to fight. She looked Luna over after the fight. She was injured but not near death’s door. She would survive. Tobias offered to bandage her up with some poultices and medicines he had. When he was done, he bandaged up any one else that needed it and would allow him to touch them. There weren’t many takers so his healing was mostly centered on his own teams.
There was an interim battle between a team of Tuskari and Mir’sha warriors. They both showed off great combat skill but the Tuskari used their massive size to block the Mir’sha warriors and pushed them out of the arena with their shield tactics. It was not a long battle and the group of travelers saw the way the Myr’Rin were represented by their various fighting techniques. The Tuskari were well organized and used to coordinating their size to their advantage. Bricky observed that these were warriors used to fighting together. The battle was called in the Tuskari’s favor and the arena cleared for the next match. They had a few moments as the next battle was called and they were asked to come to arena within five minutes to begin.
Bricky called over Bogbean and Tobias so they could head over. Luna shoved a small vial into Bogbean’s hands and let her know it was a poison that took effect upon contact with exposed skin. It could be useful in combat. Bogbean ran off as Bricky called her, pouring the liquid over her blade with liberal abandon before tossing the vial back to Luna. She caught the vial and walked away, tucking it into her pocket as she went, as if nothing had occurred. The three contestants gathered at the arena entrance while their injured companions limped off to find some comfortable seat to watch the fight from.
“Safe und togezher. Zhat is vhat matters.” Bricky reminded them.
“So you say.” Tobias responded.
With those words, Bricky did manage to encourage Tobias and gave him a bit of hope. Tobias reminded them to stay in his bubble and to stay behind him if they could. They walked in to face off against the largest of the Myr’Rin tribes. The battle began and the traveling group just stood there in awe of the giant Myr’Rin. The largest of them prepared to do something but just readied his shield and held fast in a defensive position. As if waiting for them to attack first.
Bricky saw his opening and took a shot. His jaw distended and a ray of green light came barreling towards the other team. The prepared warrior took the blast full on the shield but was able to withstand the attack. Bogbean took her cue from Bricky and she moved to attack. As she stalked forward, her visage warped and shifted. He skin grew scaly and green as her jaw elongated with razor sharp teeth within. She was a walking beast herself as she prepared to attack. She stood before Bricky and held her sword out in his defense waiting for the first person to come at her.
Tobias was given the chance to act and he threw up his aura of twilight mist as it enshrouded his team and gave them cover. It would allow them to keep up with the larger opponents. One of the Myr’Rin came at Tobias with a hammer, hoping to bash him over the head. Tobias was ready. He tried to parry the blow with his own but he just wasn’t strong enough and did take some damage as the hammer winged him. Bogbean did not like that and she struck as well. She bit down as hard as she could but could not quite reach the Myr’Rin’s soft parts. She was targeted in return and was lucky she was so small. The Myr’Rin missed and she was spared the blow.

Bricky took another chance to mentally assault the one attacking him. It seemed to cloud his mind for a moment before the rage of battle managed to help him shake off the clouding of his mind. Bogbean tried to take another swipe at her opponent but missed horribly. She didn’t just miss, she lost control of her blade, Saturn. It went flying off into the distance and landed in the arena dirt. She was weaponless for the time being. Bogbean ran for the weapon so she didn’t have to fight without it. He agility allowed her to zip for it and zap back before her opponent could track her moves and stop her.
Tobias took the opportunity to distract his attacker by smashing his hammer against his shield. It created a strange tune and rang out confusing the Myr’Rin. It seemed to work, but again the opponent shook off the attack and concentrated on the battle. Tobias focused on keeping Bricky behind him as their opponents were throwing weapons around to attack. One of them abandoned his weapon, growing angrier at the lack of headway in the battle. He charged at Bricky and hit him square in the chest. The opponent gored Bogbean but did not manage to rip too much flesh as she stopped him with her bare strength just in time. The attacker was pushed back but did not show signs of giving up.
Bogbean didn’t give up either and attacked in turn. She swung her word wide and managed to land her hit. The poison on the blade was also transfered to the exposed flesh the weapon touched, dealing more damage to the attack. The Myr’Rin began to sway as the poison began to work. He shook his head trying to clear it but just managed to make himself more sick as the movement made things worse. Tobias took the opportunity to slash his claws along the affected Myr’Rin’s chest but missed as the opponent swayed back out of reach at the last moment. The poisoned warrior attempted to strike back but Tobias used his control over the bubble of domain he had constructed and the attackers moves slowed. It looked to Tobias and felt to the opponent that the air had turned thicker and he could not put full force behind an attack. It rendered his strike useless.
The one nearest Bogbean raised his Great Axe to attack Bogbean and managed to land but the force Tobia’s bubble made it so the damage sloughed off Bogbean without affecting her. The other went to attack Bricky and could not as the poison made him see two and he missed. In the next moment the opponent threw up on the side of the arena. Bricky took the chance to try to land an attack but managed to send a bit of mental anguish his way.
Bogbean looked at her blade and realized that the poison was no longer coating the blade. She put away the blade and prepared to attack with her mouth and bare hands. Tobias used his shield again to send a reverberating noise towards the one already affected by poison. Seeing their predicament, one of them began to back up. Tobias and Bogbean took the chance to attack while he retreated. Tobias managed to land his hit as Bogbean missed. He was able to use his hammer to bash the opposing Myr’Rin to great damage as he fell and was removed from the arena.

Bogbean was attacked next taking a big hit and falling to the ground before her compatriots. Bricky ran to her aid the first chance he got. He managed to stabilize her enough that she regained consciousness and was able to rejoin the fight before the medics were called in to remove her, but it had been a close one. Bricky threw a mind attack at the one that had downed Bogbean and took revenge for her. He emitted that same glowing light from his mouth and caused a good amount of damage. One of the attackers managed to ensnare Tobias in their grip to keep him from helping his friends. Bogbean moved, injured and tired from the fight back behind Tobias for protection while she recovered.
“tanks fwiend.”
As she went she took a swipe at one of the Myr’Rin’s ankles. She landed her hit and was able to deal quite a bit of damage as she went. Tobias took the lead as Bogbean recovered and tried to break the grip of the Myr’Rin holding him. He struggled but could not break the hold and did nothing more than kick his feet at the situation. The Myr’Rin holding him did not appreciate the resistance and lifted Tobias off his feet. Bringing him to eye level, the Myr’Rin addressed Tobias with a sneer,
“Pathetic.”
The Myr’Rin held Tobias in an unbreakable hold and looked to his companion to yell,
“Finish this!”
The other one attacked Tobias with a swing of his weapon and he could not avoid the hit. He thought the blade was going to cleave his head open killing him. He braced for the death blow. Instead the blade was not true and smashed into his shoulder rending the flesh and sending Tobias into a black void of pain as he passed out. The shimmering mist of twilight that had protected the other members of the team dissipated. The other team was able to help their own companion regain consciousness before the medics could be called to remove him. He was still in bad shape, as were the rest of them, but he was standing.
Bricky sent another green beam of light at them and they took the damage but were still standing. Compared to their team, the other was doing much better. They were hurt but all three were up as Tobias lay on the floor, still firm in their grasp. The rest of his team had no means to bring him back to consciousness so he was removed from the arena by the medics.
Now it was just Bogbean and Bricky against the massive Myr’Rin team. Bricky moved fast, sending his green light to damage them further, but it still looked like a drop in the bucket to the two still standing. The team was looking a little worse for wear so they knew they were doing damage but it was slow going. Bogbean took up her sword, feeling better after her rest. She went for the thigh meat this time, jumping up to bite as hard as she could, managing to rip out a good chunk. This brought him down as he was the weakest one that has been affected by the poison. The other two saw this and coordinated to attack together, charging to gore Bogbean. One of them missed her and went careening away. The other one slammed into Bogbean, carving into her shoulder a bit as she shoved him away. They were both hurt but both still standing.
Bricky kept sending out his green wave of light and one of them finally began to show signs of weakening and slowing down. Bogbean kept tearing into the nearest Myr’Rin and took out chunks of flesh. The creature was really beginning to look like they might fall at any moment. Bone shone through one of the legs as it leaned on the other one and blood fell in rivulets down his hide. They knew they had no other choice but to end it quickly and rushed Bogbean again. One of them slammed into her and glanced off of her, the other lined up better and hit her square in the chest. Bogbean went down as horns ripped into her flesh for once this battle.

Bricky jumped over Bogbean’s prone body and snarled at their opponents. He sent out a bolt of electricity as his power reached capacity bringing down one of the Myr’Rin in his rage. He avenged Bogbean. The remaining attacker charged him but missed as the strain of the battle wore on him. He tried to step back away from Bricky but he took the chance and smashed him with the new hammer he had been given. The hammers slammed into the nose and broke it as the opponent moved back. The last Myr’Rin was still standing and Bricky tried attacking again and jumped up smashing his fist into his head. A jolt of electrical current ran through the attacker and shocked him until his eyes rolled into the back of his head and he fell at Bricky’s feet.
The battle was over. It had been a close one. Bricky was the last member of his team standing as the medics moved in to remove the injured. No one had been killed in this round, but many of them on either side had serious wounds. The crowd cheered for the amazing battle. It had been better than the last one as all the moves had been visible instead of enshrouded in smoke.
