More Festivity

The battle was won and Bricky saw that the other team was on the sidelines cheering them one with abandon. Tobias eventually regained consciousness on the sidelines as he was treated outside the medical tents, away from other Myr’Rin. He saw Bricky carrying Bogbean out of the arena and realized that they must have won. Seeing his cheering companions cemented his notion.

The walked up to him and began congratulating his prowess in the arena. Bogbean was in a bit of shock after coming to herself. She looked around in confusion. She realized she has fallen in battle and felt like she had died. The faces around her confirmed she had or, at least, had come very close to death.

“oh i got hurt real bad.”

“But you survived.” Luna tried to show her the bright side!

“thanks to you i survived!”

“Thanks to all of us who contributed. Tobias helped you a lot too!”

“Is everything alright?” Tobias asked Bricky.

“All ist gut.” Bricky responded with a thankful smile.

“I’m glad the poison worked.” Luna said in a low tone so only her companions could hear her, “also, I saw you sneaking little nibbles in battle, I saw that!”

Bogbean laughed and told her to keep it down.

“Ja you did great Bogbean.”

“You all did a great job so I wouldn’t feel bad about your part in the fight.”

“Danke, danke.”

“Sure, I even wrote a note down, see. Do not piss Bricky off about Bogbean, Dangerous! It does not end well”

Tobias noticed the praise being heaped on Bricky for this role in the battle but he didn’t know what Bricky had done to receive such praise. He studied Bricky closely to see what the big deal was with him. He didn’t see much of a difference since the battle but he did realize the Bricky’s eye changed color when looking at certain people.

“You’re eye is a different color now.”

Bricky looked confused and Tobias realized he didn’t know.

“Ive seen it be blue.” Luna offered.

“when i saw it is was green.” Bogbean added.

Bricky looked at them all in turn and they noted the color of his eye as he moved from person to person. V was yellow, Bogbean was green, yellow for Luna, blue for Tobias and yellow for Drexla. He shared this with the group, who pondered the importance of the colors.

“I thought I also saw his eye turn red for a moment but it could have been a trick of the light.”

An official from the fights walked up to them and congratulated the team on their victory. Tobias and Luna were both made to pick out of a sack to see who their opponent would be. She let them know that they would be fighting each other in the coming final battle as stones they chose were the same color. They thought it might be possible but were not looking forward to it. The official reminded them of the rules for the upcoming finale.

“You will have a day of rest between the match and for the semi and final rounds death is allowed as part of the fighting process to make make things more festive.”

“Wait what?” Luna choked out.

“Really?” Tobias mumbled to himself.

“Um, vait!” Bricky called out.

“Yes.” The official turned and looked at him with the expectant look of a bureaucrat ready to end his day.

“You said death?”

“Very well, yes. The Grand Chieftain has decided to allow for more flavor in this year’s ceremonies. He believes a greater spectacle can be achieved for the attendees if the participants were not hampered and could show their might in all force.”

“Ah, zhey vould do zhat.”

“Well, they aren’t saying you have to kill,” Tobias interjected, “only that you are not in trouble if it happens.”

“Yes, you won’t get arrested,” Luna reassured him.

“Very well,” the official continued with an indignant huff, “so we will see you at sundown tomorrow at the beginning of the eclipse for the final battles.”

“Oo, oo!” Drexla yelled from her perch on Luna’s shoulder.

“Yes little one.” The official sighed.

“If the Chieftain wants things to be extra exciting, why not have us six against the the other teams for one giant final round!” Drexla beamed with pride at her amazing suggestion.

“You would have to take that up with the Chieftain as I do not make the rules, only enforce them.”

“Where can we find him?”

“He will be arriving tomorrow with the Great Procession as they always do.”

“What do you think?” Drexla asked Tobias?

Being ignored now, the official walked off with a scowl.

“Well, you would have to convince the other competitors to work together.”

“I think we can do it.”

“Well, perhaps, but I don’t see them agreeing to work together,” Luna pointed out.

“I think they can make an exception,” Drexla insisted, “we can kill now.”

“But you don’t have to, its only allowed not encouraged.”

“Exactly, an exception.”

No on argued after that.
