It was time for the next battle. The team, made up of Captain V, Drexla, and Luna, walked over to the arena and made ready for the fight. Their opponents, three Seagless, entered the arena. They were scaled in the most beautiful, iridescent scales of various colors, from head to webbed feet. Fins extended from some of the members and they all wore gorgeous, light armor, made of coral and bone. They wielded menacing tridents with razor shard tips that gleamed in the light of the torch fire. Small shells, dried starfish, and pearls adorned them as well.

Drexla moved quickly, shooting a beam from her gauntlet gadget to wound one of the enemy team. Then she flitted away from them towards the Sacred Rock to use its holiness to her advantage and hide for a bit as they would not damage the rock. Deprived of his former target the leader of the Seagless team turned towards Luna and launched his trident at her with full force. She lucked out as it zipped over her head and embedded itself in the ground behind her since he had thrown it with such force. Too much force.
Captain V saw this and sprang into action. He darted behind the leader and made to slash at him but miscalculated the reach and did not land a hit. Seeing his failure to connect, V planted his feet and focused on not getting hit. The other two Seagless attacked, swinging their tridents towards V, but he was so focused on defense he easily managed to avoid the attacks. This distraction gave Luna enough breathing room to recover her senses. She pulled something out of her bag, whispered something to it, and blew it out of her hand towards one of the opponents. It was almost imperceptible, a small mosquito flying over to the unknowing target. When the mosquito reached the location of its target, a swarm suddenly exploded from the original and enshrouded the Seagless in the insects.
Seeing the tide of battle turning, Drexla pushed the advantage. She moved past one of the Seagless towards Captain V to help him. The enemy saw this and attacked while she moved landing a good slash on her leg as she zipped past. She was hurt but managed to keep conscious and sent a couple of shots off towards the Seagless nearest to V. She missed one of her shots as the pain became momentarily unbearable. However, she took a deep breath and managed her next shot, injuring the Seagless. The warrior engulfed in mosquitos stumbled out of the cloud and took the opportunity to encircle V in his grip, trying to squeeze the life out of him. V was slippery and managed to squirm out of the powerful grip just in time to avoid getting hurt.
Captain V avoided capture and turned around to return the favor. He slashed out at the Seagless warrior and landed a few slashes but nothing too deep. In turn the warrior buried a knife into V’s side, drawing his own share of blood. Another warrior attacked Luna managed to cleave a bit into her left shoulder. She cried out in pain but was used to deep wounds from her strenuous travels and managed to gather herself. The mosquito swarm, however, had dissipated without being able to land a good hit.
Drexla was desperate to give them some room to breathe in this battle and did the only thing she could think of. She detonated a smoke bomb across the entire arena, obscuring everyone within it. V couldn’t see very well but managed to avoid being ensnared again and moved to injure his opponent barely managing to scratch him. Another warrior slashed blindly without hitting anything and the third warrior did the same towards Luna without results. It seemed that no one could hit anything. Even Drexla was stumped by her own smoke. So, she headed up, out of the cloud and landed on top of one of the decorative festival posts around the arena.

Still swinging blindly, one of the warriors managed to land a nice hit with his fists. He got V right in the face and knocked him out with one punch. He fell to the ground, but his team could not see and could not help. The warrior that punched him was still swinging away above him hoping to land another hit, not knowing he had already beat the blue-scaled lizard man. It would have been V’s opportunity to attack next, but since he was out of it on the ground, the medics removed him from the battle when he didn’t get up.
A second warrior exited the cloud and looked around for a target. All he saw was Drexla off in the air and out of reach of his attacks. He made ready for anything that might have come out at him from the smoke cloud. The third warrior swung wildly at Luna, knowing the general direction she was in, but was unable to land a hit despite his knowledge. The fog was just too disorienting, leaving him open to attack from his target. Luna lit a magical fire underneath her attacker. It was a simple spell, normally used for making camp and warming up, but she had to be inventive. He was of off guard by the overwhelming heat giving of the most pained screech that echoed across the arena.
Drexla lined up her shots and lined up her target but missed, lined up another one and missed again. Frustrated, she huffed and stomped the air with her foot where she hovered. She fiddled with her gauntlet trying to find the point of failure in the targeting systems she had installed. One of the Seagless warriors tried swinging at Drexla but was unable to hit her at the height she hovered. The other warrior ran as far as he could out of the smoke so he could see again.
The edge of the smoke was close enough that both warriors had exited and headed similar locations outside the smoke cloud which happened to be right outside where Luna was inside the smoke. Not knowing what might be coming her way, she closed her eyes and concentrated. A glow of purple began winding its way down various strands of hair on Luna’s head. She was infusing it with some power. It caused the hair to grow longer and thicker, the glow becoming stronger with the size. Then it sprang to life, flailing around her hair like it had a life of its own. She could control her hair and use it like a third appendage. With a wild grin, she stepped out to meet her enemies.
Drexla turned back to the warriors with her newly fiddled with gauntlet. She flitted over to almost above one of their heads and shot down at one of them, managing to land a good hit. It threw the opposing team into panicked disarray. She flew off afterwards and ducked into the fog to hide from their eyes after her brazen attack. One of the Seagless moved to ensnare Luna in a powerful embrace, but was unable to lock his arms around her. The other warrior lashed out with his fists but was also unable to land a hit. They were getting more disorganized as the battle wore on.
The last warrior turned and ran after Drexla hoping to take her out. He searched the edge of the fog for signs of the darting fairy. Luna lashed out with her hair towards the one that had tried to grapple her. Her hair whipped out with such force that it knocked the warrior down and he did not get up. It was a problem because he had landed within the fire Luna had called into being earlier and began to burn. Seeing his impending doom she immediately put out the fire to avoid having the warrior die. He still smoked a bit as the heat dissipated but he wasn’t burning any longer.

Flying above the smoke once again, Drexla dropped another bomb down to keep the cloud from dissipating, and kept flying on to the other side of the arena to avoid being spotted or hit. The warrior in front on Luna tried to ensnare her in his grip once more and, this time, managed to trap Luna in his arms. Then he tried to smash her head in with this fist but was unable to get around the wild hair twitching around her.
Luna couldn’t go anywhere. She was trapped, but she wasn’t powerless. Her face split into a mad grin and her mouth opened wide like the unhinged jaws of a snake. From within spilled out a green gas that engulfed the head of her captor. The poison was inhaled in as he could not help but breathe in the cloud. He hacked and coughed as it clogged his airways and made it hard to breathe. Then she sent her hair to ensnare the Seagless grappling her in her hair to grapple him as well. She managed it and they became locked together in a seemingly unbreakable embrace. The other soldier had left his comrade, thinking he had it well in hand, to chase after Drexla. The two tried to reach her with their attacks and weapons to no avial.
From out of nowhere, Luna felt the warrior in front of her go limp. After a few moments, it became apparent that her hair was the only thing holding him up. So, she let him go. He slumped to the ground, unconscious. After a few moments of not moving, the medics removed him from the arena, leaving two on two. Seeing their fallen comrade, another warrior came back to face Luna, while the other one focused on Drexla. The one with Drexla swiped at her as she stayed out of his reached and peppered him with projectiles until he too lay on the ground without moving. Luna managed to engulf her opponent in her hair and held him in her strong grip. Then, with that same wild grin on her face, she lit another magical bonfire underneath him to burn him where he was held. The grin had not left her face since the start of battle.
The warrior was prepared for the attack this time and broke the hold Luna’s hair had on him. He jumped out of the fire as soon as he could, but it left him open to an attack from Luna as he tried to get away. She just couldn’t hit him with how fast he was moving past her. Luna followed and sent another unhinged spray of poison gas towards him as he blended into the smoke cloud to get away from her. She followed and tried to get him in her hair’s embrace once more. She didn’t light a fire under him this time. Instead, she lashed at him with her hair to hurt him as much as she could until she felt his body go limp too and slumped to the ground as she instructed her hair to let him go.
With that final warrior’s fall came the battle’s end. The bell rang out and cheers filled the arena as another team emerged victorious. Luna’s hair receded back to its original size and color. The battle fever also seemed to fade from her eyes with the ringing of the bell. The team had been victorious and soon, they would face their next opponents in the arena. Tomorrow was a whole new day.
