After seeing that Bogbean and Bricky were safe and just wandering around the festival grounds Drexla felt much better about the whole thing. She flew over to V’s side and landed on his shoulder.
“So what do you want to do?”
“I don’t know,” replied a nonchalant V as he tried to look like he had nothing to do with the debacle ahead of them.
Drexla broached the subject first,
“So I found this powder not that long ago on the island and I wanted to know if you knew anything about it?”

In her hands, Drexla held the small pouch she had of it. The top was open to allow him to see the contents that were very clearly a white shimmering powder that seemed to almost glow in the torchlight. He brought it closer to his eyes for better examination before exclaiming,
“Uh yea, I uh, I do know what that is! That’s Fae Powder! What are you doing with Fae Powder?! How’d ya even get that out here?”
“I found it on my way here.” Drexla made sure to stay vague about where she found her precious stuff. “This stuff is amazing! When I drew up your new ship schematics, I had some of this and wow! It allowed me to think of things I never had before.”
“Yea, that’s all true.”
“I don’t know if it does this to other people the way it affects me but all I know is that it’s freaking awesome!”
“Yea, it’s mostly intended to concentrate better and open your mind bit. I’m sure we could find some later, if you’re running low.”
“So that part is great, because I may need to, but I want to know,” she paused for a moment, “how you stop?”
“How long has it been since you’ve taken some?”
“About two weeks or so, but it’s getting harder not to. Especially if I need to draw up any more schematics.”
“Well it will take a while longer for it to completely leave your system.”
“But isn’t there anything I could take or do to speed up the process?”
“Well, if it gets any worse we can look into that, but I really wouldn’t take anymore unless you absolutely need to.”
“Okay, I can do that. Oh, and I found this!”
Drexla reached back and pulled the scroll forwards to show V and unfurled it before him. The scroll for heating hands could be useful. She cringed as she realized it was more fire that could hurt Bricky but it was a good spell to have in a pinch.
“I’m always finding things.”
“Yea, ya never know when you might need ’em.” V agreed.
“Since I work for you now, is there anything you need? I like that you said we could get more of that powder!”
“Um, well, you stay on the ship and you’ll for sure get some more.”
Excited now, Drexla began to show Captain V schematics for various weapons and gadgets she had thought up in her powder induced mania. She had figured out a way for the scroll to be used to create a weapon that could shoot the spell out to a target in the distance. It was an innovation that she had not seen before in the world but wanted to test out desperately. Captain V was her greatest patron to date, her only patron really, and her greatest tester of her unstable, chaotic inventions. V couldn’t help but be caught up in the excitement and started requesting perhaps a small one that Drexla called a revolver.
“It has six shots and I call it a revolver because the projectiles are fired in succession thanks to the revolving chamber I created! It would be quite expensive to make but I can scavenge a lot of the parts. I find stuff all the time, you’d be amazed.”
Well, then we’ll build it over some time so we can spread out the cost.”
“Yea, we’ll build it as we go!”
“You should make a list of stuff so we can be on the lookout for what we need first.”
“I like it!”

Inside the food cart, the two preppers were just finishing up their work. Tobias now had enough to open up for business tomorrow thanks to Luna’s help. They were wiping down the counters and washing up after putting away the ingredients. Tobias was a bit worried that they had taken too long and the night was spent, but a quick peek outside showed him the festival was still well under way and the night was waning but not over. He still had time for a special treat. With a slight smile he began to gather the ingredients for some sweet buns.
Luna saw he was beginning to work and asked, “Shall I keep helping you, or would you like to do this alone?”
“No, no, by all means stay, you can help me out with this.” Tobias said with a warm smile as handed her a few ingredients to mince.
Luna smiled as she took up her task with glee. She though Tobias was nice enough but she wasn’t doing this out of the kindness of her own heart. She hoped for extra portions when the time for meals came because his food was so delicious. Luna always wanted more after she finished her meals. After years of basic food foraged from nearby the cave where she secluded herself in, this food was the best she had tasted in a long time.
After Tobias was finished with the sweet treat he took great care in making, he exited the cart to a strange sight. At first it looked like V was talking to himself by the fire, but as he walked up and the angle shifted, he saw the V was talking to a tiny Drexla fluttering about his shoulder. Drexla had a large notepad, almost the full length of her body, was scribbling on it furiously and periodically showing V to get his nod of approval or shake or denial. They seemed to be in very deep conversation until Tobias and Luna strode up. Then they got really quiet and just stared at them as they walked up. Tobias spoke up first in the awkward first moments.
“I am going to try to find the Tuskari leader of the caravan I traveled here with. Would you like to walk with me there? I made these sweets to try and smooth things over and say hello.”
They agreed to walk him over but Drexla though it would be good to warn them of the people that were searching for her.
“We’ll walk with you,” Drexla agreed, “I don’t really feel safe sight now. I told Bogbean this but I hadn’t had the chance to tell you guys. There are some people here looking for me.”
“People looking for you? What kind of people?”” asked Luna.
“They are Humes. Those dark robed people asking questions earlier.”
After being filled in by Drexla, Luna agreed to stay on the lookout for the suspicious Humes. She also decided to guard the cart and stay behind while the others went with Tobias to meet the Tuskari caravan owner. She had nothing better to do and wanted to rest after all the work with the food earlier. The others continued on and stayed on alert for any suspicious person following them or eyeing them up.
